Weekend Today Show

Millions of Americans wake up to the Today show during the week and the Weekend Today show because they known they will be informed and entertained. The Saturday and Sunday show, which airs on NBC, is a mix of news, human interest stories, interviews and reports on topics such as health and money. There are regular weather reports and the news headlines are given every half hour. Top musical acts and Broadway stars perform live for the crowds. Artists taking part include Deanna Carter, Foreigner, Kenny Rogers, INXS, John Legend, Howie Day and Coldplay.
In addition to the regular shows from Weekend Today, there are occasional special editions to mark significant events across America and the world. These include a show following the tragic Columbia Space Shuttle disaster in 2003. There were also editions devoted to the death of Pope John Paul II in 2005 and Pope Benedict XVI's visit to the USA in 2008. This edition came from St.Patrick's Cathedral, which celebrated the first ever papal mass. Another edition featured the wedding of Jenna Bush, daughter of President George W.Bush, to Henry Hager from the President's ranch in Texas.
