One Tree Hill

Each generation of teenagers grows up with its own TV show, full of angst, turbulent romances and family conflicts. One Tree Hill has a dedicated fan base that has followed the plot twist and turns through five seasons with a sixth season on the way. The story, set in the fictional North Carolina town of Tree Hill, began in 2003. It's a small town but the local High School has a famous basketball team, named the Tree Hill Ravens.

Basketball binds many of the characters together and the fortunes of the team run parallel with their emotional lives. Irish band U2 recorded a song called One Tree Hill for their album, The Joshua Tree, referring to the volcanic peak in New Zealand and the show's creator took the name. Music is used a lot on the show to heighten the drama and set moods with songs from top bands, such as the Foo Fighters, The Cure, Snow Patrol and Led Zeppelin. Several musicians have made guest appearances as themselves, including Fall Out Boy, Jimmy Eat World and Sheryl Crow.

The Scott family is at the heart of the series and the members have a complicated relationship with each other. Paul Johansson plays Dan Scott, father to half brothers, Nathan and Lucas. He abandoned Lucas and raised Nathan, pushing him hard to be a basketball success. Dan's older brother is Keith, played by Craig Sheffer, a much more likeable man who takes on a fatherly role to Lucas. Nathan Scott, played by James Lafferty, and Lucas, played by Chad Michael Murray share a father and a passion for basketball. However, their early relationship in One Tree Hill is hostile. Eventually they come together and forge a friendship.

Fans can wallow in nostalgia and buy the DVD sets from the show. Seasons 1 to 4 can be bought individually and there is also a box set containing Seasons 1-3. Extras on the DVDs include commentaries by the cast and members of the crew, funny outtakes and deleted scenes. One Tree Hill's use of music is celebrated in three soundtrack albums. The first Original Soundtrack contains tracks by Travis, Trespassers William and The Wreckers. Volume 2 - Friends with Benefit includes contributions from Feeder, Audioslave, Gavin DeGraw, and Tyler Hilton. The Volume 3 soundtrack is the Road Mix with songs from The Kooks, Gym Class Heroes, the Constantines and Band of Horses. All these songs recreate the drama in various key episodes of the show.

Summary: One tree Hill is a weekly show that is very popular with teens and adults. The show is about a small town on North Carolina where the characters have a common interest of basketball.
